Re: Rubicon clean up

Has anybody ever considered using Barrett Lake trail as a model when concerning bypasses? Barrett would be rather difficult to unknowingly diverge from the trail with the way logs have been laid on the sides of the trail. This is a no question about it approach to bypass control. It is more work in the short term but possibly less in the long term scheme of things. There are plenty of downed trees stacked and pushed out of the way, what about cutting them into managable lengths and dragging them to nearby appropriate locations and wedging them into the side of the trail? I have chain saws, gas and oil, and am willing to help. Worthwhile endeavor or waste of time?

I think it's a great idea, Aggro, but I think it's more than can get done at the Clean Up. I'd like to see a more consistent level effort put into the bypass blocks than there's been in the past - some are a couple of small logs pulled over an open area. It's important that these hold, and some places more than others.

If we can't get them all taken care of on the Clean Up weekend I'm willing to come up on other weekends.

If memory serves, laying against the edge of the trail and digging them into the side a bit.
