i've got a 97 250 460 manual. the rear main started leaking, and looks like some oil has gone back into the clutch housing. can this be sprayed out when the seal gets replaced, or is there most likely damage? thanks

just smoke the clutch a little and then drive around, starting and stopping now and again.(please do this in rural area's). if it doesn't fade, your probably clear. I know this is a HICK ASS way of doing things and will take a bit of life from your clutch, but if you want an easy:read lazy: way out......

The only way to fix an oil soaked clutch is to replace the disk.
Everything else like the flywheel and pressure plate can be cleaned with acetone.

However, a oil soaked clutch will slip, chatter and grab like a mothereffer.

If it appears to operate normally, I wouldn't sweat it.
