I used toys because of the split of 20.5/27.5 vs. 22.5/24.5, the military wrap, and I had them.

If you want more lift, a bolt on spring pack, and have $200+ sitting around - go 44044's

If you want to use a flatter spring, don't mind playing with spring packs to get the right, want the axle moved 2" forward, and want to save some money - use the rear springs up front

Both flex VERY well - so no real advantage to one or the other there...

Still comes down to if you want to play with a pack and build it to your needs, or just put one in there "as-is".

You could easily build up a stock rear pack with pulled leaves to support a V6 or V8...

like everyone is saying, the springs end up very similar as far as flex, length etc.
but what is all boils down to, is this. are you building your truck or buying?
spend some time under there getting to know the toy, and shit why put heep parts on your toy.
you can buy like 4 or 5 sets of springs for the same price as AP or the 44044s.
build it!!

A buddy of mine made a set out of 85 rears, he got about 19"-20" of travel. I have the 44044's and get 22"-23", and haven't even broke them in yet. After a few weeks his are sagging and uneven, if he stays this route, I see him replacing his front pack at least every year. None the less, he wants 44044's, when he gets the money. Dont tell me about building or buying, I've practically totally rebuilt my whole 92' suspension and drivetrain up. All I have to say is; whats the best, is the best. And as SeaBass said, just buy the 44044's; you'll be happier in the long run, and at this point I would rather be wheeling my rig then replacing blown out packs every year.
I dont see it as a comparision, it's only what you can afford, and what you will settle with. I dont think you can build a set as good as the 44044's, and if you do, you may have spent upwards of $100 or more on springs to make the pack anyway, I just dont see the benefit.

I do believe that the 44044's are made for a Wagoneer with a V8, so they would be my top choice.......

lol GRABBER....

Just because you can't get more flex out of the rear springs is not my problem...

DO THE MATH.

There is no physical way the 44044 springs can flex more than the stock rear ones. Stock rear springs are 1" longer, thinner leaves, and .14" more narrow.

And just where are you measuring your travel? I will be more than happy to flex mine out and get pics and measure the same place you are and then we can put this to rest...

lets see some pics and #'s David.
Do you have any thing big enough out there to flex up on?
I like the flex in my hybrid packs but they are sagging bad (on one side more than the other also.) I just can't see them lasting. I could pull them apart and swap things out untill I fix the problem. But I want to wheel not work on in. They will work for now. But next week I'm ordering the waggs. As far as flex #'s from all that I have seen the waggs flex more. To each his own.

I'd be glad to post some pics, Havent had any since I put on the 44044's, but I'll get them if you need them , using a tape measure so you can see. But I'm sure I wont be the first to post pics of the 44044's flex, you should know that. I've yet to see anyone with any type of 85 rear pack come close to the flex of 44044's, including you, as a matter of fact I've yet to see any pics of your truck fully flexed. Or was it. Show me (us, 44044 users) what you got. I dont think the flex of the 44044's are in question, if you've seen all the pics I've seen on this board of them. If any pack comes close its the 89-94 rears up front. And I dont think it's a matter of math, but more of the real world, not DRM's.

GRABBER, I guess you still fail to DO THE MATH.

I have seen stock rears flex as much of not more than 44044's, since I know for a fact I have been running them longer than most.

If you can't grasp the fact that the stock rear springs are longer, softer, and thinner, and that translates into more flex, then I guess you can think whatever YOU want to in YOUR imaginary world where reality I guess does not apply

But post your pics, with measurements and where you take them... I'm waiting

lol - I was maxing out 14" travel shocks before most people knew what 44044's were

Just keep spreading whatever info you want... Some of us that KNOW do what we do, while others just pretend to be

I'm not pretending to be anything than what I am. I dont care when you maxed out 14" shocks, I been on this board awile, and have checked out your site many times and have not seen anything that I would say is impressive about your flex. If you got something; show me. And as far as KNOWING, I've yet to understand what you know. I KNOW what I KNOW, and dont comment on anything I dont. And from what I've heard of you, you havent exactly boggled my mind with your knowlege.
