Ok, I'm in the market for a stock TJ to build. Problem is I live in a "remote" area of the mountains, so carmax.com is going to be one of my best options (even though I feel their prices are a little high).

So the question goes...
Is there a way to identify if a TJ has the Rear D44 (no rubicons, duh...)
from any other way than looking under it? I doubt if i call carmax and ask them to look if they would (especially if it's one that need to be transfered).

Maybe a letter in the VIN #?
I don't know, but i figure the question is worth a shot.

What you can do is get the jeep vin number, get a factory build sheet for it (DC or the net) and if it has a 44, wish that it is still there.

That would work great because carmax.com supplies you with the VIN number to al vehicles.

If you bring the VIN to a dealer they would give you the build sheet, or you might find someone on the net that can do it for you. HTH

If you go to Jeep.com, you can ask for a build sheet through their customer service email. Just send them the VIN and ask for a build sheet. They should email you back with it.....
