cant speak for a 460 model, but i put 140,000 miles on a powerstroke version and loved almost every minute of it. typical dislikes are fords poor brakes ie they get hot easy and warp the rotors. i put 4 sets of pads on the front 1 rear set of shoes. the truck drove nice hauled what needed to be hauled and was dependable for what it went thru

Great trucks, if the truck has an A.T., make sure it shifts good and doesn't slip. If there was a 'weak link' in these trucks, I'd say it's the AT's.

P.S. as for the fuel mileage.....you'll be passing everything but the gas station <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I have a 95, 250 4X4 ext cab with 460. Gets about 9-10 around town, 12.5 highway and 7.5 towing 8700 lbs, which it does fairly easily except for the real high passes in colorado (was only there once).

Problems I have had are cruise module, real main seal, whole bunch of interior rattles, front brake calipers, and front steering links.

I would say E4OD is pretty tough. I accidentally put mine in reverse doing 30 mph forward and all that happened is the rear locked up until I dumped it back in nuetral :). No problems with it even 10K miles later. I do agree to check it over pretty good as they cost close to 1800$ to have rebuilt.

460 has decent balls until it gets hot out (air temp wise) and it seems like the computer cuts about 100 HP out of the motor. On a real hot day, it won't even spin one rear tire (open diff), even with a completely cold motor. On a colder day (like 40 degrees) it will spin em up to about 30 mph, Weird!!!
