BLUERIBBON ALERT *** BLUERIBBON ALERT *** BLUERIBBON ALERT *** Dear Subscriber: The revised Action Alert for Roadless comments to Chief Dale Bosworth is now in place. For those of you who sent an email already using yesterday’s alert, thank you! Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the recipient for the emails was incorrect. Please take the time to send your comments again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Go to... http://www.sharetrails.org ...and click on the Rapid Response Resource Center. You will see the alert for the Chief Bosworth email toward the top of the Legeslative Action page. For those of you who have not already sent out an email on this all important issue, please do so at your earliest opportunity! ____________ MORE DETAILS: The BlueRibbon Coalition, its members, and other multiple-use interests worked hard to defeat the Clinton-Gore roadless initiative. Now, the Bush administration is asking the American people to send in comments on how they want approximately 60 million acres of inventoried roadless areas to be managed. It is important for the new Forest Service Chief, Dale Bosworth, to hear from all of us who use, enjoy, and want to protect our public lands. Your comments should help correct the former policy that was the product of a deeply-flawed public process. This comment period also gives us the chance to ask Congress and the administration to consider a new land-use designation called “Backcountry.” This proposal by the BRC will provide access for diverse and dispersed motorized and non-motorized recreation. It will also offer protection of the land while at the same time allowing the agency the necessary management flexibility to respond to recreational demands and forest health concerns. For more info on this idea -- go to www.sharetrails.org and click on the “Backcountry” icon. *** END ALERT *** END ALERT *** END ALERT *** END ALERT *** To Remove your email address from this list or to update your information or interests list it is easy.
