Ok I've search and searched. I can't find where anyone has come up with a simple way to do a wheel disc brake on a rockwell. So is everyone here just using a kit or what? This is kinda the deciding factor between Rockwells or 60s. I just don't like the Idea of a pinion brake. TIA.

Search for jeeper111, he has discs on his. Think he got em from a banned member. Steve Gerstner could probably hook ya up. Think Chucks trucks makes a kit as well. Havnt heard of anyone just mixin parts to get a set, just the kits.

Thats what I kinda figured. But the kits aren't that much when you factor in the cost to upgrade a 60 with CTMs and superior shafts.

I made 4 wheel disc brakes on our buggy using rotors from a ford 550 rotors and Wilwood calipers. The center rotor hole was opened up to 6.355 (I think that was the opening size...) so it would just slide over the hub (which are flipped out and and cleaned to an OD of 6.350) Since the center hole was opened up to 6.355, it put the original 10 stud holes to close to the opening so they were moved out from the center another 3/4" and spaced between the original holes. Donut shaped plates were made from 3/8 plate with the same 6.355 center hole diameter to slide over the hub with the new 10 stud pattern around the flange surface and then tig welded to the hub so the rotor could be slid on from the inner side and then bolted to the 3/8" plate. Caliper brackets were created from the top steering knuckle plate so the calipers sit at 12 o'clock position just in front (outer side) of the knuckle.

well, that explanation is sorta what i meant. But my idea wont work for the front withthe hubs turned in. Oh well.....about how much did everything cost with the machining and parts?

Nope, I had 7 sets at one time, now I am looking for a front myself. I have everything to put in rear steering except for the front axle.

Got any pics? Never seen discs with the hubs flipped.

You too huh? We brought home 2 fronts and 3 rears that day and now they are sitting in a pile, not being used. We cut up one of the rears and put knuckles off a bent front on it, to make another (steering) axle.

here is a kit I came up with a while ago, it does come with the caliper brkt that are not shown.
It has a huge 17" rotor that is fabricated with a air space in the center and cross drilled holes. It is for a rockwell axle with the hubs flipped in.

I wouldn't mind at all just selling the rotors if someone wants to use a differant caliper and come up with there own brkt.
