I rolled my truck saturday night onto the top. I'll post pics later and give the low downd on what happened but I need to get a windsheild in this bitch. I had to raise the top of the cab about 6" wheer it cruched down but it looks pretty close to where it was. I do have another truck with a good windsheild. How hard would it be to take that windsheild out. The only one I have ever taken out was the shattered one yesterday and it was a PITA. Or would it be easier to just buy a new window?

If you rolled the truck good luck trying to get the windshield to ever seal again. You can get it pretty close though. If the cab is bashed to bad you can make it a convertiable and put a plexeglass window in.

I don't know how prices are in your area, but around here the new seal would have been $40, and a new windshield is just $120, so it's not worth the PITA

Is the year of your Ride an 86? If so good luck on taking that other one out with out it braking on ya. What I have seen guys do at a Bone yard is use the Piano Wire to cut it out, but the Moulding are glued down (with clips) so be carfull taking those bad boys out.

What I would do if you are going to buy a new one is contact a local Glass shop and Ask them if they could save you an old one so you can use it to make your Body work fit. Most shops will be glad to do that for you.

Oh yeah I work for
nullSpeedy Glass go to the site and see if we have a shop close to ya....Tell them that I am your Uncles Brother and I work in Colo Sprgs Store #9666 My Name is Andy. Tell them that I would sell ya that Glass for $80.00 installed. Also tell them that You have meet Brad Young ( that will get them) he is the VP of the Company....LOL Good Luck

depends on what sort of window seal you have is the window glued in or is it a rubber type.

Option one if it is the glued in one - you need to get a cutting wire, insert between the glass and body, get a pair of multi grips and connect to either end of the wire being about a foot long and work your way around the glass in a sawing motion to cut the glass - you need 2 people to do this succsefully. to fit back in you need a 12v transformer and a sela kit - probably better to get a window guy fit if you have no access.

option 2 - if its the rubber seal type easy as, work your way around the rubber from the inside pulling on the ruber that is on the inside of the body until you can push on the glass and it comes out. to put back in you need a long piece of rope that fits inside the edge of the rubber, put the glass on the body with someone one the out side pushing on the glass. You pull on the rope to peel the rubber flap over the body.

But if the body aint straight forget it there aint much room for the glass to play with if its not straight.

When I rolled my 4runner, the top was crushed down bad. I did get another window to fit in and sealed it up with the window sealant that is used. Just use a lot of it

if you live near sacramento, theres a discount auto glass place right next to pick'n'pull and river city diff on sunrise, i've bought two windsgields there for $65 or $70 each. check it out. But hey if its already rolled might as well go convertable with a lexan windshield, I'll post pics of mine one of these days if you're interested.

by the way, alot of the time, the rubber seals are glued too, and will break when taken out the seal is often shot too, i learned this the hardway, when i tried to pull a windshield from one truck when i broke the one on my driver.
