well, as it say's. this is the 4th rig i've built now, begining with an xj on 33's Its amazing the knowledge you gain from wheeling the piss outta a rig you built, and then upgrading it as youre desires dictate.
so, her's round 4:D

what it is. 91 yj chassis/tub narrowed 12.5 inches( bought from a guy on the board)
dovetailed, floor/firewall replaced with alu. Rear frame hacked off and replaced with 2x4 box/tube.
Alu links, 4 link rear, 3 link frontw/panhard.
yota fj 80 front(soon to have longfields etc), taco rear, both e-locked.
4.3/t350/300. 40 mtr's (for now):shaking:
whatcha think?

sorry the pics are so bad, camera is on its dying breath!

Dave, very cool! I'm actually working on mine this weekend for the first time since Memorial Day. I'm in the process of mounting the hydro ram, so I should have some pics to share with you.

What happened to the YJ45?

ah, yes. the yj 45. it currently resides out in the yard, parked next to the GF's commanche project. kinda lost interest in that one! pondered selling it, but i kinda like it? who knows.
today's progress. cut 2 inches fom the front of the hood and tapered it to 0 at the back. lowered the grill and improved the visibilty quite a bit!

looks good but that tacoma rear end is going to go boom, especially if it came out from under a TRD, and it has the smaller 8" ring gear, where the non-trd tacoma rears have a slightly larger 8.4 ring gear. I know I blew up 2 from the factory 4.10 non-trd thirds when i was running tacoma running gear and 35" tires, good luck with 4d's

yeah, it'll get 39 Krawlers as soon as i can weazel a set out of my Dad. Cj grill would be cool, but, I hate to do the work on that!
Got the steering set up today. Hefty drag link, Tie rod is next along with ram. My uddy Jimmy cut down the 1st door to fit around the cage. Picking up motor tranny this evening!
its coming along. Maybe when this one is done i'll get back to the other one!

BELLY HEIGHT?????

now its sitting at ride height with 20 lbs of air in the tires. The belly height is right at 19.5" figure on using 1/2" plastic for the skid, so 19" totally flat bottom 100" WB. links are pretty much dead flat.
Question? doesit seem too low? it'll be flat and slippery?????

progress!

got the drivetrain mocked up yesterday. 4.3/700r4/300. fitsl ike a dream!
hope i can use 2 driverside exhaust manifolds to wrap the pass side exhaust around the front of the motor. flexed it out with the cherry picker. no rear steer.
going to run a carrier bearing to clear the tranny pan, so i can have front and rear shafts the same length.
looks like its getting cryo'd 5;29's in the diffs. picks tommorow.
