LR based Rock-Buggy project - For Sale

Hey guys,

I haven't posted here in at least a couple of years. Life has taken me in a different direction, and unfortunately I will not have time for four wheeling in the foreseeable future, so I have to get rid of my rock buggy. It is about 90% complete. It is in its third version, and has been up and over the most difficult trails in Moab in its second version. That was about four years ago.

I would like to get $5,000 for it, which is far, far less than I have into it in parts alone, let alone hundreds of hours of my labor.

Here are the basics:
The base vehicle is a 98 Disco. I have a clear IL title (I'm the original owner)
4.0 V8, ZF trans and LT230 tcase have ~150K miles on them. New head gaskets at ~120K miles. No problems, and only very minor oil leaks :D. I haven't started it since 2008, but there were no problems then. There is about 6 feet of the original frame left.

Highlights:
1.75 DOM cage
4-links front and rear with johnny joints and 12" fox coilovers.
110" WB (uses a stock disco rear driveshaft front and rear)
Toy diffs with ARBs F/R, 4.88 gears, 30 spline Rovertracks axles and Longfield CVs. Never broke an axle or ring gear in this configuration.
39.5x13x15 bias Iroks with at least 90% tread, no punctures.
Allied beadlocks.
Warn winches front and rear
Custom 8 gal aluminum fuel cell (uses stock LR fuel pump)
PRP suspension seats
DJ safety 3" racing harnesses
Recored and cusomized Discovery radiator (more rows)
Saginaw P-power steering pump
High-flow hydroboost brakes
AC compressor converted to Air compressor with all the goodies (tank, regulators, pneumatic switches for air lockers, etc.)
Rock lights
Swivels with high-steer (or as close to that as possible on a rover axle) knuckles.
Disc brake on T-Case.
Bikini top.
UHMW boat sides (not mounted in pictures).

I was in the process of extending the front end by a foot (done) and adding hydraulic steering (not done, have all the parts), as well as the dash (not done, have all the parts)

Lots of parts and spares:
PSC quick release steering wheel, Orbital valve, custom made double ended ram with PSC mounts. Warn hi/low driving lights, shit-ton of autometer gauges. Howe 3" aluminum power steering cooler (awesome). Front sheetmetal and hood, center console with f/r winch controls, spare calipers, pads, ujoints, driveshaft (maybe), knuckles, heim joints for steering, fuel pump, and probably more that I can't think of.

I hate to get rid of it, and I would hate even more to part it out. It is close to being on the trail and is very capable and fun to drive.

The car is currently not running, but it does roll so can be loaded on a trailer.

What needs to be done: dash, hydraulic steering, and plumbing for coolant, power steering, and brake lines. Might need another stick of DOM here and there in the front. Mount sheetmetal.

If interested or if you need more pics, please get in touch.
Alex

Any idea on the weight. Why doesn't it run? Has it ran since re doing the electrical stuff?

Last time I weighed it, it was 4,600 lbs. That was with more of the stock frame and glass, interior, and full front sheet metal on it. and me. Should be closer to 4,000 now.

If someone is seriously interested I have a four-corner scale and can weigh it as it sits.

It hasn't ran because I haven't run it. I modified the harness to remove all unncessary circuits (got it down to less than 10 IIRC.). I have notes on what I did. I did test it after the harness was modified and it started and ran fine.

It can't be started now because the all the underhood plumbing, main harness, and fuel lines have been removed. as mentioned, I have all the parts.

I also found more spares: set of exhaust manifolds, two y-pipes (both with o2 sensors, one with good cats, the other with gutted cats).

Hey Alex,
sorry to hear that :(

I hope to see you again somehow, sooner or later, and wheel again :)

I was just reading your first build thread the other day. Gave me some inspiration to use the AC compressor for OBA on my D1.
Was wondering if you still had the truck, I guess so. GLWTS!

Thanks. I hate to part with it, but I just don't have time to finish it, or use it for that matter. It will make be a fantastic deal for someone.
