Everyone keeps bugging me about what we're doing for KOH this year, and now that the Jeep is in my shop I guess I can show you a little.

Highlights:
It's an LJ
It'll be on 35" tires
It'll be running a lot of products from Savvy Offroad and Currie Enterprises
It will have a lot of SFR fab work
It's gonna go fast. :flipoff2:

Just finished up the Fuel cell mounts. It's quite secure now. Starting to do some planning for the plumbing and should be getting started on mounting the fluid coolers shortly.

Also got a box full of wiring harness from Hotwire Auto that we'll probably start test fitting in the next couple days.
HAHA so Gerald did call Chris at Hotwire. I think that is the hot ticket if you can afford it.
Wow, that is a nice pitman arm for $25. Definitely have to remember that link.

Hotwire did a really nice job with the harness. I have had a lot of custom wiring done by a lot of places, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this one. A number of other companies use pretty cheap fuse blocks, Hotwire actually used a really nice sealed weatherpack style box. I'm lookin forward to hooking it all up.

Yep, after you told me about them I did a little research and talked to Chris. He really is good. He got everything done in a week. Really happy with their work and service.

Thanks for the tip.
Why only 22 gallons and why not sink it in the bed for lower CG, etc? I really like how yours is though. I was going to go with the 22 gal but decided on the 32 gal instead for the longer races besides KoH I want to do with the rig.
Sinking it in the bed isn't legal. You're not allowed to cut the floor for anything but cage.
We also didn't want all of the weight of a bigger tank. This is purpose built so keeping it light was a priority for playing in the rocks. This was the lowest height and size we where looking for that we could find that would hold around 20 gallons. We'll race the West Coast Series and are undecided on the longer races.

Good thing the scouts had an optional 33 gallon tank that fit under the floor

Amber says we need to do a long race so that she can co-drive a leg :smokin:

Sounds good to me!

Startin to look like a race car. Added the shoulder bars and then moved up front. Mocked up the grille, radiator, and bolted on a sexy new set of Aluminum Poison Spyder fenders.

Tomorrow Gerald is coming down with some goodies that will allow me to finish up the interior and get moving on the plumbing.

Nice, it is really neat to see the difference between a cage that has to pass tech and a cage that is built to look neat and "work".

Not saying that the cage doesn't look neat, quite the contrary, but it is not the average bend infested swoopy cage that you see.

Really neat built.
but it is not the average bend infested swoopy cage that you see.
FYI, there are a total of 8 bends in the entire main cage structure. There are currently 2 more in the door bracing. Straight tubes makes it easy to clean the ends in the lathe :flipoff2:
Looking good, its giving me bad thoughts about my DD wrangler when I get home. Good luck guys.
just curious - how long did it take you to do that work on the pitman arm?

That's probably a $1000 pitman arm!

John Currie mocked it up when he was building the front end and Dallas wrapped and welded it up. Definitely a few hours to build. The link Hurley gave for the pitman arms is probably the way to go.

When Dallas gets up he'll tell you.

I think I've got probably about 2-3 hours in it, but that's just in the actual plating and finish work. I'm not sure how much time John has in it, as I know figuring out the angles and making it all fit takes quite a bit of time.

Fit up the Savvy Aluminum Half doors, and amazingly they actually fit almost perfectly right up against the door bar without any grinding or modification. Originally the plan was to only use the outer skin bolted to tabs on the cage, but they fit so well that we'll actually be running them complete, exactly how they would go on any stock Jeep. The only difference will be that they will be bolted shut instead of using the latch in order to meet the rules.

Gerald also brought me a Synergy seat slider that came from Polyperformance. It's a really nice piece, but unfortunately was a little too wide for the space we have. I ended up simply cutting about 3" out of the 2 cross bars and welding it back together. Now I've just gotta figure out how to mount it :D
