I guess its that time of the year were you try to find something to do over the winter. I have been playing with the idea of making the sawzall into more of a buggy ditching the leafs in the front and going with a 3 link and cutting the cab out of the truck. I guess if you have a few beers with some buddies and you are in your new shop and there is a sawzall around this is what happens.

The plan is to cut out all of the cab. Build a firewall. Added some more tubing to the exo, now buggy frame. The great thing about when we built the exo we keep everything close to the cab. I always said if I cut the cab out of the sawzall it will still look like a Toyota. Well I guess it was time to find out right...lol. After I get all of the tube work done I am going to ditch the leafs and build a 3link panhard with fox shocks in the front.

I also liked it with the body on it. But after thinking about it, and all the weight I can get rid of will help me down the road. I still plan on leaving the front how it is. Going to have to make some tabs for the fenders and hood, and enclose the rest of the cab area with sheet metal or plastic. I have some ideas and just have to work through them.

You decided to keep the firewall? All in all it's definately cleaner and safer to keep it. I'm looking forward to see how you link the front, keep us posted.

i am going to get rid of the rest of the cab. just havent had time to finish getting it all out.

You know, it's superficial, but you gotta keep the cruiser grille!

for sure the cruiser grill is staying. also going to leave the hood and fenders on it.

What is your rear suspension setup? Do you like it?

Buggying it out is going to be dope dood, if you pay as much attention to tubing the rest of it out as you did to the front grill, the sh-t is going to be tight!

the rear suspension is a mazda/toyota leaf pack. i have to say i love the way the ass end works for me. the fronts are the rancho 404404 or what ever the hell you want to call them. i do not like the way they work at all. they are bent and i havent even pulled a leaf out of the pack yet. so this is the main reason i am getting rid of the front leafs. the sad thing is i built some beefy ass front spring mounts that know have to be cut off.

Lookin' kinda naked. Gotta love hackin' at body panels!
What's the plan for the floor? Diamond plate? Sheet? Expanded? You gonna add some viewing areas anywhere or are you doing a complete floor?
i plan on building a firewall with some viewing areas in it. the floor will be all expanded steel. at least that is the plan for now.

Something tells me that gusset doesn't do much to add strength, but it sure makes a nice bling bottle opener!
On the two diagonal braces behind the "cab", are you going to continue them down in an X shape below in front of the fuel cell?

Lookin' good!

yea i will be finishing the X in the rear.

Ended up pulling the t-case up another 3.5". With doing this I will have to redo my t-case mount. Started on the tranny tunnel and firewall.

How are you going to attach the center section to the chassis?

Going to attach the t-case under the seat mounts. going with a bushing style mount. just wanted to get the seats in place before i mount the t-case.

It looks great!!

are you keeping leaf springs or do you have plans to go links??
i would like to get rid of the leafs in the front and go with a link set up. but i dont think i will have the funds to do it this year. if i were to go with the link set up in the front i also want to go to full hydro.
