Ok, after wheeling this weekend I have figured out I need to rework my rear suspension.

Question is....what is the best way to mount shocks.

Some say like this... / \

Some say | |

In everyones opinion, what is the best way? I want to have the most travel possible. Oh,and its basicall just a leaf sprung rear end, with a anti-wrap bar in work.

Thanks, if I need to put more info in, just say.

Shocks mounted || are more effective and help with axle wrap. Shocks mounted / \ are usually done that way for convenience, and will allow for more flex with a shorter shock.

I prefer ||. Works good enough for me. Use your stock upper mounts, and make axle mounts as low as possible without hanging below the tubes.

This is the only pic I have atm. The shock bushings have plently of give for the side to side movement. Trick is not to over tighten the bolts. Just enough that the bolt won't come loose.

if you have room you can mount them like this
with the travle of this / \

lean them back....you get less dampning like just like / \

but the stability of | |

with the mount close together up top when you corner it will just pivot on those mounts.. yeah they will work just not as well .no stability side to side

I mounted mine l l and get 100% dampening factor and the long travel. I just have 15" travel shocks sticking through my bed.
Works great and you get the best of both worlds as long as you can give up a little space.

don't do the shocks like this /\

I had mine like that once, then one day i tore a shock off on the trail, So then i pulled both off and drove home...

couldn't tell the fawkin difference :flipoff2:

/\ doesn't do sheeit

after that i used some cheapo 4" lift shocks to the stock upper mounts and attached them on the top of the axle. didn't run out of room...

anyway now i got them straight up and down out as far as they can be WIF no bed WIF 14" bilsteins :flipoff2:

i mounted mine / \. i regret it now.
it doesn't ride anything like my stock OMEs did mounted

to get any damping, i had to turn the 9000s up. that makes the rear 'hop' over things like rail road tracks and speed bumps when the two rear wheels hit the obstacle at the same time. really sucks.
