Sitting On All Fours(!)

Finally got the front coilovers mounted on Friday. It is a little tall in front, but I have the adjusters threaded down so the coils won't unseat at full droop. I have 6" tender coils and sliders coming so I will be able to drop the front down 3" - 4" to make it sit level.

I still have to fab the cross-bar between the hoops and mount the rad resevoir, the steering fluid resevoir, and a few other bits under the hood that had to be moved to make room for the hoops.

Plus, I'll have to make some cuts in the hood for the hoops to poke through. But hey, everytime I remove sheet-metal, it gets a little lighter!:grinpimp:

I've made some progress and have been driving it around the 'hood once a week. Will try and get some Picts this weekend. Still lots to do though(!).

Awesome! How soon until you're ready to go wheeling with me? Are you interested in a Crozet, Big Dogs, Raush Creek, or Harlan run sometime this summer?

Oh, btw I upgraded my Jeep a bit, purchased a tow rig, and did the trailer thing... It would be cool to see how "Winston" does on the rocks finally! :smokin:

Hurry up already so we can go wheeling! :)

I know how you feel! I had a clunking in my front end and when I inspected it today one of my lower control arm mounts on the axle side tore off the axle at the weld, my hydro steering ram is shifting side to side in its mount, and 2 of the nuts in the steering linkage have gone awol!

I'm hosting a local mud run on some private property on the 30th and my rig might not even be able to play :(

I ordered a Hobart 210 mig welder this afternoon with 2 day shipping, so I might get everything sorted out by the 30th.

What is holding your build up lately? The last I saw it was the electrical and stuff.
Time right now. And when I do work on it, it seems like I get one thing done only to find two others that need fixing that I didn't know about. It's 13 years old now, so a lot of the little pastic connectors, fittings, ect are getting brittle and keep breaking. It's minor stuff, but enough to be a pain in the ass, which in turn makes me lose enthusiasm and not want to work on it.

My Jeep is a 98, so it's even older than your rig. I'm planning on going to Big Dogs Ice Breaker event at the end of next month, and then to Rausch Creek the 14th through 16th of June. Maybe you could come out and wheel with us and your enthusiasm would return :)

Yep these projects take a lot out of you always something even if its minor its so time consuming ! You're almost there keep it up ! :))

Here's how I fixed the driveshaft angle by putting a spacer on the end of the flanges.
A bitch because all the steering had to go.
Now I have a normal pitch and it does no vibrate a 60 mph :))

The vibes went away when I decided to balance my tires with air soft pellets and bought new wheels as the Hutchinsons were bent(!). All pinion angles are set and it tracks true and smooth (well, as smooth as Iroks will allow).

It's amazing at how the little things like bent wheels and unbalanced tires can affect things. :)
