sm420 bearings and stuff
Are you looking for a rebuild kit? If so check your local driveline or gear shops. This part #,BK108 from shop in Sparks cost $86 plus $6 for shipping. Pretty complete, with all bearings, snap rings ect. No synchro rings. I would also suggest replacing the bearing that comes with the Wardens plate with a sealed bearing and not use the seal that goes in the front of the t-case. That way you do not have to worry about possible damage to the seal as you install the t-case over the output shaft of the sm420. The seal or sealed bearing keeps the oils of the trans and t-case seperate. You can get the sealed bearing at Napa. It is a type of the 307 bearing. HTH

Thats right Dustin, it's $200 for the parts needed to adapt the 420 to your 2F.

I would love to see a jobbers price on the N307LOE bearing needed for the swap. With the retaining ring if possible. I might consider buy a quantity and making them available with my adapter plates. Best price I found was $38 before shipping and handling. E-mail direct if you prefer

Dustin,
the only thing you "need" from Warden's is the 2F pilot bearing kit. Very reasonable for the $50 they charge (at least they were a month or so ago). Everything else is from Toyota (new seal, gasket, and washer) or Napa (SM420 gasket kit) and the local nut and bolt supplier (tcase bolts, studs and washers, and the adapter to tranny bolts and washers, and a roll pin) and the N307LOE bearing which should easily be less than $50.

That's asuming you are not going to use an indexing ring (which I don't think Warden's sells anyway). If so add that in as well.

If you started with a 4 speed (flywheel and pressure plate) add in $70 or so for the clutch disk.

I'm somewhere around $275 - $300 total (plate, ring and clutch disk included) saving at least $150 over the kit prices (that are short the ring and clutch disk).

What did I do wrong?
