I have been in college for 6 years, earning a degree for welding and a degree for machining. July 20th is my graduation date. I am going to apply at Boeing, to build airplanes. The KOH race is in Feburary, about 7 months after I start a new job. I doubt that an employer would give me a week off, being so new. I also watched KOH '08 from the helicopter, and it was nuts! Both the chopper ride and the guys racing. Also $$$$, I added up what this one race would cost me ($40g?), my pockets are not that deep. And no one is going to beat Shannon!

Everyone on our crew had a fantastic time last year. Like most everyone else, we're making some improvements and we'll hope to run a fast clean race and not break something that can't be fixed quickly. I am sending mine in this weekend. I have no business what-so-ever even trying, but I dont care. The money thing (diesel fuel) sux, but it doesnt matter to me or the team. Being from the est cost sux! All it takes is Shannon to make one small mistake and its anyones race,,,,,Hell its anyones race as it is!!

The application has been sitting on my desk for at least a month now. I do plan on sending it in though. I'll be driving my old Willys CJ-2a that was originally built in 2001. Its been rebuilt 7 times since then, and of course an 8th rebuild will be necessary to get it ready for KOH.

I plan on applying and have my form all filled out, just want to get a few things in line since I know this is a tough race to get into. I'll be bringing my home built buggy that I've run for about a year now. Lots of work/changes will be in store if I get accepted. Saving for fuel to get out there and back might just be the biggest expense
