I just bought a 1987 toyota pickup and was wondering what the best axle is. I was thinking of buying the all pro axle swap kit. Is that a good choice and what axle should i buy to go with that?

Most axles have some sort of drawback. I just swapped a D44 into my '92. Cost wise, not matter what you do, you're going to have to pay for it. The all pro kit is complete, and is more user friendly than other options. I've heard a lot of complaints about breaking birfields and I wanted to be a little different, so I went with the 44. I've seen some other SAS trucks in town, but they've all gone with a Toyota axle and one guy used the all pro kit. You can build all of the components yourself and maybe save a little money, but the kit will take some of the headaches out of it. I agree that you should ahve all of the parts first, so you can look at everything that you ahve to do, but in reality it's not that hard. I'm almost back on the road, good luck with yours

I still think I did a great SAS on my 87 Pickup. Found an 85 4Runner, took all of the goodies of my 87 (Marlin, wide axle, armor, etc) and installed them on my 85. Presto, EFI/SAS for 3 grand.

Hey!

One of the advantages to using the All Pro SAS kit is proper caster/camber angles. the figures were nominal factory specs after I completed my '87 truck conversion. I can also recommend using the Hy-Steer setup also!
