OK, we all know the 297x/760x's weak spot is the bearing caps.

I have blown another one

So how can I go about buying JUST the caps? Yeah, it's butch, but this is a beater.

I'm thinking I might ask at the local driveline shop for caps off joints they replace, but it's a small shop and I doubt they change out enough of them to have a good supply

alternate plan: what about using 1350 caps (no groove) and welding them in? (I have started welding them anyways)Anyone tried this? They both measure 1.188" in diameter. Jess? Anybody?

Just a ? for you...did the cap break out around the snap ring groove or blow out the end(top of the cap)? I've done both, I"m just curious how you break most of yours.

I have never blown the end out, always fail around the snap ring groove

All the cosses I have recovered showed only damage that was probably caused by hitting the yokes after the cap failed.
