I've got the following leaf packs to play with:
- RE front 1.5" reverse eye soa springs
- RE rear 1.5" reverse eye soa springs
- stock YJ front springs.

I'm running a 3 link with 14" coilovers in the front of my YJ and SOA in the rear. The coilovers in front are currently set to match the rear ride height which puts them around the halfway point of their travel, ~7" up and ~7" down.

Naturally I want to lower the whole jeep as much as possible to minimize up travel and maximize down travel.

The RE springs flex well but they have an arch. My goal is to lower the rear end as much as possible while SOA.

I've seen stock yj springs SOA and they look like they sit nice and flat -

My thought is to run the YJ packs but replace the main leaf with the RE reverse eye main leaf. The point is to get a flat leaf pack at ride height with the added lowering effect of the reverse eye position.

So the question is - has anyone tried this specific setup?

I've already tried the RE packs with various leaves pulled... A little better but still pretty arched.

I have searched this setup wording it a half dozen ways and not seeing what I'm looking for.

Trying to avoid much more trial and error, fingers crossed someone out there has done this specific set (and that it works!).

For reference - In the pic above the rear spring packs are RE rear SOA springs with the third from bottom leaf removed.

I can’t provide an answer on your specific question but I’m interested on feedback that others might be able to provide. I’m 3 link front with 12” coil overs with SOA YJ springs (2nd from bottom leave removed with a 2nd main leave added). After many years of use the rear spring are starting to sag and replacements will be needed.

37’s with the rear axle moved back 1” and the front moved forward 1” for reference.

What about frenching the front hanger into the frame? That would get you lower.

I say bolt the pack together worst case is you waste 2 hours.
Copy that, the packs are together and waiting for decent weather to be installed.

Are your leaves currently flat or are they still arched?

Passenger side is slightly positive arched and driver side is flat to slightly negative arched.

well that's interesting. My pass side rear is always the first spring to sag.
My anti wrap bar is mounted on the passenger side. I believe it limits the up travel slightly on the passenger side and it natural reduces torque twist to the passenger side (night and day difference installed versus not) so my theory is the passenger side spring doesn’t get fatigued (inverted) as much as the driver side. I’m not complaining, for oem yj bastard pack springs they have held up well to 10 years of trail use. Unfortunately wheeling time has been really limited the last couple of years (not to mention garage fab time) so retaining leafs instead of going to 4 link rear is going to be the reality.

Ok lemme update this -

The YJ/RE bastard packs wound up being a bit of a pain in the ass. The center bolt holes are different sizes, the clamps are no fun to remove, and the inner leaves of my YJ packs were rustier than I thought. All mildly irritating issues to overcome but together they made me look for a different solution.

What I landed on was using the RE 5 leaf packs (designed for the front) in the rear with the smallest and third smallest leaves removed. So it's a three leaf pack with about 3/4" of arch at ride height. I installed my trac bar (drivers side btw) so not concerned with wrap.

They flex quite nicely, and if sagging becomes an issue I can just throw the smallest leaf back in the mix.

I'm about an inch and change lower in the rear, so can now lower the front to match.

I just decided not to pass up a pair of Dana 60's so those will be going in soon.
The suspension will stay the same for now but eventually I'm going to link the rear and see how low I can get this thing.

Update #2!

The front RE 5 leaf packs are OUT.
The clamps are in different locations than the 6 leaf RE packs, and that location hits my tailpipe and frame way too soon.

So right now it's the RE SOA 6 leaf packs with smallest and second smallest leaves removed for a four leaf pack. Happy medium. Not as low but also not bottoming out on clamp/frame or clamp/exhaust.

Did some fun wheeling today with this leaf setup and overall very happy. Everything from bouldery waterfalls and slow speed to loose rocky dirty hillclimbs and keeping momentum. Big fan of the flexy 3 link front and the leaf spring rear kind of keeping it's composure.

Good deal. I like the 3 link front and leaf spring rear for wheeling. Fire road spirited driving shows the limitation of the leaf springs though. I have new Rock Krawler 2.25” shocks to add to the rear and play with valving to better balance the chassis (I hope).
