Does anybody here know anything about an upgrade that Toyota came out with for the brass bushings in the wheel spindles? I am pulling my front axle apart to swap in a different housing, and found that the bushings were looking pretty worn. I was able to pound them out of the spindles pretty easily with a long punch. A buddy of mine that used to be a Toyota tech said that Toyota came out with an upgrade for that bushing that put needle bearings in the spindle, since a lot of them were wearing out. Anybody ever heard of this? Gonna try to find the parts at the dealer tomorrow, but I'm betting they're gonna give me the usual blank stare.

Hmm... that's kinda what I thought too, but he swears it's available for the solid axle spindles too. My parts CDs are no help, they only show the solid brass bushing.

Hey Jim, you've got mail. Just replied about the frame.

I may be wrong, but this upgrade was only for IFS trucks, not solid axle.
I will put a seconded on this. I asked my neighbor who is a Lead Tech at Toyota of Roseville. He said "never heard of it for solid axles just IFS"

I wonder if the IFS one will fit in the solid spindles? Nah... that would be too perfect.

Nothing for the FJ80 front axle? being fulltime 4WD it puts some wear on the bushings.

I'm sure the IFS gets more wear due to the smaller shaft size.

Does anyone have a part# or a tsb# for these replacement bearings on hand? I questoined both techs and parts counter at the local dealer and neither had any knowledge of the parts, or a tsb. working on an 86 truck with a 4cyl. Thanks, jimmy.
