well guys i have few more questions, i plan on running 3.5 or 4 inch springs SOA, on a yj with a 400 small block and full width 60 and 14 bolt, heres my questions, what spring brand would yall recomend, i was leaning towards superlift, i want them to hold up good, i cant afford re springs or custom ones, so whats the best ones for the buck, and last but not least with that amount of lift i wont have to cut and rotate my knuckles in the front will i
thanks

I'm running Skyjacker 2" springs up front and quarter elipticle in back. I can't belive how soft and smooth riding the front springs are. Even better than the stock wrangler springs.
As far as the knuckles go I don't know. You shouldn't have to, but there are so many variable between axles it's hard to say.

Im going thru the same conversion but with a 9in and 44 and I'm pretty sure your going to need to do a cross-over steering converion. Which means flat top knuckles drilled and tapped, steering arms and a new tie-rod and drag link. This moves the tie-rod and drag link above the springs. With a lift like your doing the drag link will hit the springs. Also its according to what size tire your gonna run as to if you need to cut. i'm gonna run 37's and it will require quite a bit or cutting.

4" springs with an SOA on a jeep is a bit too tall I think. As was mentioned above, the tie rod with the high steer will most likely hit the springs, even with a 1" raised arm. You will not be able to run very much caster with 4" springs. Your shackle length will have a bunch to do with it too.....

With a 60 and 14B the axle tubes are so large that they alone give you quite abit of lift with 2.5 springs. With some trimming a 39.5 will tuck in nicely I would think. Is your 60 a kingpin style 60? They are easy to do a hi-steer on and will clear easyer with 2.5" springs.

yes its kingpin and i also plan on running a 2 inch bodylift, i am cutting the back and the front to the max will this work, i decided to go with 3.5 inch springs, these are actually sagged to about 2.5 inch, will this clear my dragling fine with crossover on a kingpin 60 adam

I run this set up with a S/R/S- Buggy spring set up with 37" Boggers and the tires do hit on passenger side rear of front fender----BIG time...Will need to cut back about 2.5"-3" of lower fender!! I fabbed my own cross over steering with 1" steel plate off of the top retainer plate, When I drilled the center hole in the plate for the spring in the upper mount I used the plug (drilled out portion) as a spacer for the spring inside, The pilot hole thru the plug allows grease to feed thru the center of plug to the spring. I used rod ends for my drag link and am making spring over tie rod now with rod ends also.

ADAM!!What the hell, are you tired of the blazer or what? I'm runnin 38.5's on my scrambler with waggy front springs..( I think they are around 2in.lift more than yj springs and I dont rub hardly at all. I had to cut the back out a little and the custom front fenders help, but other than the I only have a 1in. body lift!! SO are you going jeep now or what?

1BDYJ I see you have a 454 in your rig.How hard was that to stuff in there?Did it fit in between the inner fender wells or did you cut them out.I am building a CJ5 and have a 454 sitting around I have thought about dropping in.Thanks Blazin.

A friend of mine has a 454 in his Jeep and it even has headers so go for it. Here is a shot or 2 of it. It doesn't show the motor but it shows a Big Block Jeep Getting It.

As for the the K5 guy why so much lift? This Jeep runs 2.5 springs and about 1" of boby lift.

I used Superlift on my 82, but went through several saggy sets before I put my 2.5" Rancho springs. So far no sag.

BLAZIN...it was pretty easy to install being I already had a SBC in it, as far as headers..a friend had a set of camaro BB heades and they fit right in. No I did not have to cut inner fenders, but....I hinged my front fenders at the seam so I could gain access to motor easier. I also run F-350 front shock mounts so I had to cut inner out to get the fender to pass over shock mount when I swing the fenders out.

Your planning on a 4" spring over but don't have a lot of cash? Honestly if i were you and going that high i would do it right the first time and save a little longer to get the best quality parts and the right parts

What do you guys thing about the ProComp 2" springs for SOA? I know they'll hold up well, but will they flex at all?

Anybody have experience with those?

I have their 4" springs on now, SUA. They're really stiff, although, I can get some half decent flex out of them. I'm not really looking for killer flex. PA rocks aren't all that big.

Honestly if your going to waste money on the procomp springs i would just get the BDS springs or superlift. For the money i have heard great things about both companies
