I have some 44044s I'm putting on a D44 in a spring-over configuration. The 44044s are speced for spring-under, so the center pin is on top with the nut on the bottom. Does this matter? I can flip the pin easy enough, but don't want to bother if there's no good reason to.

Crust- haha, I have done the same thing. I thought about clamping them and then I figured I could hold them with a pair of channel locks. BAD MOVE on my part!!!! everything was fine until the last thread on the bolt then" WHACK!!!" shot the bolt up, missing my head, and broke a flouresent light, the channel locks slipped and collapsed crushing my fingers in the handle, and really made my wife mad cuz all the noise woke our kids up( all the cussing and dancing around in pain). all in all CLAMP EM DOWN with vise grips or a c clamp!!!!

HAHAHAHA... Glad to hear I'm not the only one who's done that! :) Clamp them. Even vice grips don't work all the time.

I'll flip em then. And yes, I knew about the clamping. I'm so glad I read the directions for the AAL I put in the rear pack. I probably would have just tossed an impact on there and had spring parts flying all over the place and been doing the cussing dance. :D

I used a pair of C-Clamps, they worked quite well.
