I AM CURRENTLY BUILDING A 70 FJ40 LANDCRUISER. I AM PUTTING IN A DANA 44 FRONT AND 12 BOLT REAR UNCUT, I AM USING CHEVY SPRINGS WHICH ARE LONGER THEN FACTORY TOYoTA SPRINGS. IN ORDER TO DO THIS I HAVE TO LENGHTEN THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE FRAME ABOUT 2" EACH. THE CHANNEL IS 3 3/4" OUTSIDE DIAMETER THE PROBLEM I RAN INTO IS FINDING CHANNEL THIS SIZE. EVERY STEEL PLACE I WENT TO SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERD. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE? SECONDLY IF I TOOK TWO PIECES OF ANGLE IRON AND WELDED THEM ONTO THE FRAME WITH 6" ONTO THE FRAME AND 2" HANGING OUT AND BUTT JOINTED THE 2 PIECES OF ANGLE IRON TO MAKE A PIECE OF "C" CHANNEL THEN GUSETED INSIDE WOULD IT BE STRONG? THE FRONT SPRING WOULD BE HUNG OFF THIS. ANY SUGGESTION WOULD BE APPRICATED. <IMG SRC="smilies/fj.gif" border="0">

try to find a piece of box that will sleve the frame. I have seen many frames extended, and many different ways of doing it. The idea of using the angle and then making a gusset does not sound too bad. If you want to buy some Butch Lewis makes frame horns sleves that extend it 1.5 in. but they are a little pricey. I know fj junkie extended his frame horns on the 55 maybe he could help ya.

i don't know if that helps much.

talk to project4ever, he has pics on his cruiser in this section. he runs 58 inch f-150 springs. real easy to find. and he didt have to extend the frame, just moved the rear shakle mount to back of fram and moved the front one forward. and ill tell you for standard leaf springs, they flex crazy. almost enough room for 39.5 tsls
