ok, i have an 84 longbed pickup, it was rolled over and needed a new cab. so i put a cab off of an 87 pickup on it. every thing was pretty much a bolt up affair.
the problem now is that i went and bought a front E-brake cable for an 84 pickup and tried putting it on, the cable was 2-3inches too short!!
so i thought i would try to order one for an 87, no one but the dealer can get a front e-brake cable for an 87 pickup. and the dealer wants $57!!!
so i guess i am goign to have to move the rear mount back like 2.5 inches.
just thought i would see if anyone knew why this cable was a dealer only item?

thanks for listening to my rant

Just curious what happened to your original cable?

I have the old cable from my '84 xcab, wheelbase is the same so the length should be right. I had to get a SWB cable when I did the AllPro t-case e-brake. It's still in good shape. I can measure it end-to-end, if you're interested.
