Well, using your analogy, the D60 is only an upgrade from 33 to 35 spline if you go from a Super 44 to a 60. It's a bigger jump from the 44 to the Super 44 than it is from a Super 44 to a D60.

Also you said in order to build a Dana 60 up you must have "Hi-steer, locker, gears, offset 15" rims" aaaaaahhh??? hello! just because someone has a D60 means they must have to buy gears, lockers, hi-steer, o' and rims????? WOW! and someone running a Dana 44 obviously doesnt need any of these things, inter-fawkin-resting. Unless I missed something, YOUR 44 DOESNT COME WITH THIS STUFF EITHER SPANKY!!!! wow, I swear some people are sooooo stupid. Now who sounds like a Moron... Duuuhh?????

Ok zipperhead, I know you wont be back on this post to reply, but here is what I was trying to get across to you.

To build a 44 and a 60 with the same equipment, you are going to have a lot more in a 60, period. And yes, if I am going to put in a 60, then I am going to run 35 spline inner and outers. Why keep the 30 spline axles? Then you got the wheel/caliper issue with 15" rims. Grind the calipers or do it the way it should be done, there is some more money. There is a bit of money wrapped up in converting to 5 lug, which you can get stock with a 44. Lockers are more expensive, gears too. Out here, the price of an axle compared to a 44 is around 650 bucks more. And so on.....

I won't argue with the strength issue, they are bad ass! I want one super bad too, but I have to keep asking myself, do I really need it. I have a cj7 with 350/465/300 w/4:1, and 4.88's with ARB's. I have not even broke a 297 yet, and I do wheel it, but I have never hammered down in the rocks either. I always use my 130:1, and try not to get the tires burried under and behind big ass rocks. If I get into trouble and I think I am putting too much pressure on it, then I hook up a strap, winch, or stack a rock. I not ashamed. You dont have to prove to everyone on the trail that your rig is the biggest and meanest out there. I do have 38.5 sx's and so far so good.

Sorry to see that you panties got all wadded up in you arse......

most of the fukrs in here are just web wheelers anyways so they need dana 60s on their imaginary jeeps. not meant as an insult to those who actually need a 60

I still don't know how effective these super kits are. I heard the factory TJ 44 rears use some thinner walled axle tubes than a normal 44. If thats the case...seams like you're better off with the 60 option. No sense in trying to built a factory TJ 44 rear to 33 splines if the tubes are kinda the weak link. Personally I'd drop down the $ and build a nice 60...shave it or whatever before I'd do one of these super kits. Its a nice idea...but not for a TJ rear I think. Other 44s might benefit from it though. But being a TJ guy... I just don't care.:)

they are thinner, I bent mine up pretty good. the good thing is that I just swapped all of the internals into an '87 XJ D44 housing. cheap, easy, + spares... :D
