"Take 92" - YJ Link kit from Motobilt with Nines

For reference here is last build that had way to many changes in it so that is why I am starting a new thread.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-hardcore-tech/1021890-impaks-wrangler-build-no-more-xj.html

So here is the Story..

After I wrecked my XJ racing it I decided I wanted an open top Jeep that my family of 4 could ride in and we could all enjoy it but then I also could go out with the guys on some hard trails and be able to keep up.

So After selling a bunch of parts I found a nice YJ

It is a 92 YJ with a XJ 4.0 and TJ NV3550.
My Plan is to rip out the dana 30 and 8.8 and replace them with 9's add a dana 300 and 4 link with sway a way air shocks.

pics of Jeep as I got it

Well parts have started arriving :)

Just got my MotoBilt 4 link kit, fuel cell, light bar brackets, and other small odds and ends.

Killer! Dan's stuff looks awesome, cant wait to see it on here :D
See that button with the "^" ? press and hold unti you reach the desired temp and then slide the lower left side lever to "heat"....you'll be amazed at what gets done....now paying for the 'pane or heating oil, that is a different story. I hear ya on the cold ass temps....

BAM 4 link kit is in.

I do need to weld it all the way in but it is tacked and all lined up ready to make some links..

looking from the rear

looking from the front.. I am going with a dana 300 passenger drop front axle and looks like plenty of driveshaft room

Also took of rear tailgate and few small things in the way for crusher corners and clamped them up to see what I need to cut and then set rear axle in place with rig at full bump

then I placed my 14" Sway a Way air shock in at full compression to see if it cleans and I think I will be good.

Motobilt 4 link kit

I am also looking to use Dan's 4 link kit for my YJ. What wheelbase are you going to be?

had a few minutes in garage today..

Rear quarters are cut and Genright Aluminum corners are on.
Rear axle is centered and now just need to assemble rear axle and start making rear links.

Subscribed, this is what I'm looking into doing. I am still in the gathering info stages and don't want to loose this thread.
why would you want to do that 4 link kit? it looks like it lowers the belly height like 4 inches??

And Its wayyyyyyyyy over priced!
For me the belly height is not an issue..I have wheeled my XJ for many years with decent but not huge numbers under the belly for clearance and never had an issue.

Also, by using this kit I just saved myself weeks of design and figuring out where to mount my links etc..
As for the price.. Lets think about the time Dan has put in on the computer and the time to have each piece cut out then he has to put it all in a jig and weld it all up..

I have purchased pre made stuff in the past and i have never had a product that fits as nice as this kit did and is ready to use in minutes.. I am not joking I literally could have been making links within 30 mins of me putting the kit on.

Being that it is new to the market why not let me finish the build and when I go wheeling in April I will report back on how I liked or did not like it..

Welded in some weld washer so I would have the correct size hole for my johnny joints that I am running

then I used a buddies 40" tire to see if I want to go that big and I am pretty sure I will stick with 37's

The skid is no lower than the factory skid. It looks deeper because the sides are flat and not angled in like the factory skid plate. The bottom of the skid also is even with the bottom of the links to help slid over things. A few people who have thought the same thing change their mind when they se it in person.
