OK. Here's my deal: I can get a TH350 that's been sitting outside for a while for free. It's the 4x4 version with a 203 case behind it, which I can also get. (Don't need it, though.) I've been wanting to try my hand at rebuilding auto trannies but not sure that right now is the best time. Does anyone know of somewhere where you can just send them a core and receive a rebuilt unit for a reasonable price? My brother is doing this with Marlin and his Yota tranny.
If there is a significant price difference, I will just rebuild it myself, since I've been wanting to do it anyway. I've heard you can get all the parts to do the rebuild for $150 and that it is easy. If it's been sitting outside for a while, is it really worth it anyway? It seems to still be in good shape, with the only rust being on the input shaft and clean paint on the outside. I can still read the painted on markings.
