so i had my th350 rebuild and fitted with a tci rmvb with engine brake (32115)
the problem is when put in 1st or second, the trans locks up. reverse is fine.
had the same problem with the stock valve body so we swapped the case thinking it was cracked.
same problem. took it apart again, nothing wrong to see. air checked and all worked.
new converter, problem stays.
disconected the oil cooler. made it work for 2 seconds until i gave it some throttle.
any ideas?

so rebuild trans stock valve body
rebuild trans rmvb
different trans rebuild with same rmvb
all have the same problem.

called tci with no help

Is the linkage adjusted correctly? I run the exact same set up and if I'm not all the way in 1st when I shift into 2nd it will feel like something is dragging for just a second. Maybe try disconnecting the linkage and put in gear by hand?

There are a few different gaskets between the valve body and the Transmission. TCI RMVB requires a certain one. Your symptoms sound like you have the wrong gasket.

You should be able to see where the pressure has "indented" the gasket when you look really really really close. I believe if you just cut those areas out and it should be good.

I second this. Had same problem. The linkage adjustment is super finicky.
