I rode the Whipsaw with my brother on dirt bikes on Monday. 2 wheels is a lot faster than 4, 2.5 hours from the start of gravel at Hwy 3 to the stop sign in Coalmont. Hotter than Hades descending down into Coalmont and Princeton.

he picked the Deavers up used and they are for 99-04 superduty and they are 6 inch springs but he pulled some to drop it down a bit. hes planning on switching the rears out for some 80-96 F150 springs with a shackle flip to try and get a little more flex out of it

he went and signed up for Insanity Fab Winter Challenge small tire class, so now the truck is in the shop getting some lovin to get it ready

the plans is

rear gear to 5.38
swap rear suspension to shackle flip with 80-96 F150 rear springs, small truss and traction bar
3link front with truss, and deaver F150 coils, high steer
hybrid exo cage that will tie into the deck and front bumper
small boat sides
autometer gauges

sure there will be more once we really get into it

so he got a good start on it this weekend.

rear deaver springs are out, they have some major arch to them

cleaned up the frame of unneeded stuff and got the rear hangers figured out, did have to move the front hanger back to make sure the tire stayed centered in the deck opening.

going to run the TMR small truss on the back

got the front end stripped down this weekend to get ready for the 3 link and exo cage as well

the plan for the front was a set of 78/79 Bronco Deaver coils, Ballistic adjustable upper coil buckets and an Artec 1ton JK swap truss. he went and ordered all the parts and then actually looked at the truck and realized that the coils would not fit on the truss and clear the frame. only way to make it fit would be to build big mounts off the truss and inner C kinda like what comes on the 05 and up superdutys. he does not want to do that so now we will make the truss work and will be running a set of 14 inch coil overs.

jk 1ton swap truss, lots of extra parts that we wont be using now but do like how low it sits on the diff so will be nice for oil pan clearance

cleaned the 60 up and tacked the truss together and looks like it will need some trimming to make it fit the diff as back side is hitting some of the cast webbing on the center section. but should be able to make it work

the front was pretty sacked out after being jumped so many times that it was almost on bumps at right height. so plan is to go back to how it sat when he first built it and have some uptravel again

i built some rear bumps stop mounts and plates for the u-bolt plate. he got the rear of the truck put back together

built a new trans cross member with the lower links mounts as well, its pretty much a copy of what i have on my truck

truss is all welded up and slid the diff back under the truck and looks like we will have 5 inches of uptravel at the ride height we are aiming for

Like the Ubolt plate/bump landing pad, nice clean and simple. Look forward to seeing the front end come together:grinpimp:

thank man, its a piece of 1/4 inch plate so should hold up. wanted to make it as smooth as possible so if he wants to upgrade to air bumps he wont have to change to much. and can still get a socket on the ubolts, was thinking of welding some pipe in the holes for the nuts to beef it up but think it will be fine

our buddy still have the front diff setting up the 5.38 gears, so trying to get other things done while waiting. i got the weld on high steer done, went all fancy like and pre heated and post headed on the bbq then left in a bucket of sand over night to cool

5 and a half inches of cab got cut off, 2x4 3/16 sliders

started to think about the exo cage. plan is to have the front section hidden under the front fenders so will come down the A pillar then go under the fender. to make less bends and have a good spot to tie all the different tubes together i plated a section of the A pillar. this is where the factory steel inner fenders tie into the cab.

got the diff back with new 5.38 gears in it, new ball joints in the knuckles too

mocked up all the links and have a better idea of what needs to be trimmed and moved ect. just a heads up for anyone else looking at the weld on high steer kit, they do not fit standard heim joint spacers and you need to order the Artec ones. did not know that and now on hold with steering till we can get those. trac bar is off a little bit because the drag link is not sitting right cause we do not have the right spacers. have to trim the engine crossmember a little bit for the upper link to clear but otherwise everything looks good so can fully weld it up and get some paint on it this week
