I wasn't seeing much on it other than no one really does it. I don't see why it would be a problem as there are threaded aluminum links.

Anyone ever done threaded DOM steering linkage? Right now I am using 1.5-0.25" wall DOM. I don't have much space left in the SAS and would like to drop the diameter of the tubing to get a little margin. Not crucial, everything works well. Just has a little more potential with a little smaller diameter. I know threading 2-3" of tube would be a bitch but I think it would be worth it to do 4 or 6 rod ends for what I have to gain. Would like to use 1.25-3/16 or 1.25-1/4.

People do it all the time, you just aren't seeing it. When I can get my hands on it these are 1.250 x ..388 wall chromo and were on my old flatty. I had to drill it out then tap it.

Thank you everyone, very helpful! Somehow I was missing it. And the heat treating is a fantastic idea. As well as buying the right size to not need a tap drill. This is going on my to-do list.
