I am replacing my FJ80 Tie Rod ends on my Marlin Hi-steer kit. I got the new FJ80 tie rod ends from Allpro. I noticed that as I torqued the castle nuts in the taper was extending past the bottom of the steering arm and the nut is threaded on past the hole for the cotter key. If I keep going the threads bottom out and if I go beyond that I will strip the threads on the tie-rod end. I also got a new set of Allpro steering arms and checked fit with them and see the same problem. What am I doing wrong? Seems like the taper is wrong but that doesn't make sense. Marlin says to torque to 80-100ft/lbs.

I'm thinking that the torque is too high and distorting the tie rod taper. Maybe it should be more like 60-70 ft/lbs or my torque wrench is crap.
