Rockstomper hinge (really quite the cool thing)

The latches are your standard pivot latch. Made an anchor on the top by welding a nut to a big arse washer and expoxying it to the inside of the quarter panel, then bolting through it.

Drivers side hinge and tire on that side so I can see out the window in the rear view mirror.

No tailgate interference.

Single latch would only be stable in one plane, with two you can stabilize vertically and horizontally, therefore elemenating vibration.

The hinge is angled to ease in closing, and to help keep it open. Like a refridgerator. I will most likely just use a spring pin, or a post.

Well, that may be true; but I don't think so. The quarter panel one is just a bump-stop for the top of the rack. It is only there to hold in place, and the bolts go through the re-inforcement braces inside the fender on the chassis itself.

We have been running the same design on another truck for over six months with no issues.

We'll see.

Forgive me if I'm a little foggy on this. I have been without power for 5 days since the blizzard. I am at my in-laws using their computer.

1"x2" and I want to say that it was 12 gauge. Good blend of weight and strength I think.
