I'm debating....taxes will be back in a week or two and I need advise....what tires will work best on a light rig w/ v8 power??

This is what I got....

'82 toy shortbox
350 v8
toy tcase
no front clip
steel flatbed
full exo (soon)
v6 rear w/ disks
stock front w/ longs + chromo's (soon)

I just am not sure what size tires to run....skinny or fat. W/ a v8 am I better off w/ a fat tire??

I was debating 36" tsl or skinny 38" boggers....Just wondering, but I will be ducking for cover.......excuse me......:D

What kind of terrain do you plan on wheeling in or on?

Well....I am trying to steer clear from mud now and I am doing more trails and rocks....that's why I am having an exo cage done....I just need to know what gets better traction on rocks...fat or skinny?? I would think fat ssr's or MTR's would be best but ssr's are too much $$ and mtr's from what I read they are not a "good" mud tire that's why I plan on staying w/ tsl's....

There was a fat-skinny tire comparison reveiw done last year in Peterson's magazine. They went through all kinds of terrain with both sets of tires. It might help you out if you can track it down.

The tested a 35x17.5 and a 35x11 i believe. What they found is that they were too wide, and too skinny for the jeep. If i were buying a new set of wheeling tires, it would be a set of 38.5" Sx's.

if your all rocks, go with 38.5x14.5 TSL/SX, if you do a little of everything, 38x12.5 tsls. For rocks, wider is better, for mud, skinny is better.

Just put a used set of 38.5x11 boggers on 10" wide rims on the jeep. Looks like a good combo to me. They sit 37" tall and 13" wide. Seems like that about right for our neck of the woods.

Well I'm running with 33x12x15 under my 85 toy . The guy who I got the tires from ran them on his 4 runner and they work fine for rocks .

Just my opinion but I think a 36 or 38x12.50 on a 8" wheel gives a good all around tire size. Here in Tennessee we have a little of all types of wheelin and I think this size works real well. Though I ran a P (33") buckshot on a 7" wheel and they did awesome on my Scout.

Psst... SeaBass...

38.00x12.50
38.50x14.50

When he added the ".5"... he specified width. ;)

Also, the 38.0 is about 3 feet high. That's why I bought 38.5s, they're at least an inch taller, probably more like an inch and a half.

I run a set of 13x38x16 TSLs on 16x8 alum. wheels for the rocks,, I have aired down to 5 psi and have never blew a bead,!!! I had them siped ,,I love them !!!

I opted for a set of 18.5x44s for the snow,, they float a lot better:D
