I have an 01 tj. with 4.0 and nv3550.

when i press the clutch and hold it all the way in sometimes it takes a second for the pedal to come back off the floor.

It aslo happens when im parking and have to half clutch it a little bit.

then today i was getting on the free way and went to downshift because of traffic and the clutch did not comback at all it stayed on the floor.

i had to stop shut it off and drive home shifting with out the clutch

could this be I need a new clutch slave? clutch? pressure plate?

I checked to clutch fluid last week when the jeep was off.

couldnt find anything from searching.
thanks

Seems to me like you need a new Clutch Master Cylinder...

not positive but aren't the master and slave sold as one "kit" for the 3550? i reacall that was the case when i did my 3550 swap but i just hand bled the 3550 slave and hooked it to my YJ master.

don't think they are that expensive and much easier than dropping the t-case/tranny to do a clutch job which i doubt that is the prob. so yeah, i agree with the master/slave being the culprit.

I bought a slave and master cylinder. just debating on which one i should try first. the slave was about 60 and the master cylinder 90. probably gonna install the slave first and see if that works
