I found a 3rd member on ebay for my axle I'll be putting in later on. I want a locker but will I need to pay someone to do all the resetting over again with the locker installed. I think I already know the anser to this one but I thought I would ask. At least I would have a spare to get reworked while I can drive the current one.

the third member is the right spline count, but as for a locker, I don't even really know whats' out there. If there's one that can be installed without taking the 3rd member apart, that would be great. I have plenty of experience, but not anything with diff gears and paying someone to install the locker and redo the gears means less money in my pocket.

To install a detroit or any other full carrier type locker or spool, which is the strongest, you need to take the whole mutha trucka apart. This is beyond me because you have to set the lash for the gears properly and if you don't you'll be screwed. I paid to have my locker installed in the 3rd member, and since you have the 3rd member out already that's less $$ and time to start with. It can be done by the common man, and if you get a manual and the right guage tool thingy and some time you can do it yourself for free.

Well I'll probably still buy the 3rd member it the price is right. I might even be able to have in done down in AZ when I get the other rear end. Labor is sooo, much cheaper down there compared to silicon valley, and possibly CA. Thanks for the info.
