the 4runner did end up spinning a wheel bearing and destroying the hub/spindle assembly on my 44

The 4Runner has got to be a pig pulling your trail rig. I can't imagine pulling another rig with mine.

It looks cool though....

I find it kinda funny that your tow rig is more trail-worthy than a lot of people's trail rigs.

funny you should all comment on the lack of power

only went approx 150 miles? and the last 12 miles of the pass were @ 25MPH in first gear, but as far as flat ground and regular freeway's it's not that noticable, just got bad once the 2lane pass got steep!

and yeah, it's a fairly capable tow rig...

We get caravans of Mexicans heading back south after working in Cali for a few months. They find the two cheapest Toy trucks (4x4 or 2x4) they can get, load them both WAY over the roof with anything they can buy here and sell there, towbar them together, and cruise. So, you got a '79 or '80 rig, loaded, towing another loaded rig. They even get up to 40 mph sometimes on I-10

No man it wasn't me. It was Jose, my 15th cousin. Said they took off in the wrong direction, he wanted to go to the boarder and he ended up in Placerville, now he picks grapes, apples, pears and anyother type of slave labor he can find up here.

I've stalled out going to Glamis on the Grapevine. Shifted to low-range and prayed to God that I could get the 7000 lb load rolling (I had been using low range to start off on level ground). 15 MPH or about an hour to the top of the grapevine. Semi pulling doubles were passing me or almost rear ending me like I was standing still! More troublesome than the lack of power is the lack of stopping power with out warping the rotors!
