Sorry this is a newb question but I searched and came up with nothing.

I saw the toy 8" 3.54 ratio in the list from US R&P suppliers. This ratio was not used on toys in Australia so I know nothing about it.

So which trucks was it fitted to? is a HP version available, and if I just buy the gears which case/hemisphere do I need to run it?

It would be the perfect ratio to match up with my 3.54 D60 (Salisbury) in the rear of my D110 tow/touring rig.

Thanks in advance

Anyone know for sure? It is listed on the Precision and other websites under toyota 8" 4cyl.

only trucks i've heard of having 3.54 are 2wds with the 7.5...1 tons generally got 4.10 or 4.30 gears

i think some 4 banger tacomas have 3.58 gears. car-part.com says it was available in that ratio with the trd locker(at least in 2002) so it'd be available in a V6 gearset. however, probably no luck for a high pinion application

I have a 3.54 R&P set - but do now know what they came out of. They are definitly 8.0, not 7.5". Also would like to know where to find more of them...

I've messed with a 3.54 2WD V6. It's a late-80's/early 90's vintage. 8" ring, we just slapped a "normal" minitruck 4.10 diff in it's place rather than set up new gears.

5 on 4.5" lug pattern too, that's why it got stuck under an XJ as an upgrade. :cool2:

Thanks for all the replies. So the 2WD V6 yota has an 8" 3.54??? Does it use the same carrier/pumpkin as the numerically higher ratios???

Precision gear lists 3.54 toy 8" R&P's under the 4cyl though???

Does the Supra have an 8" diff?

Anyone else?

The one I played with was an 8", 4cyl-style third member. Since I didn't set up gears in it, I can't confirm it's identical to the truck stuff we're all used to--but it looked the same. (just the weird ratio)

Sorry 7.5.
bzzt, wrong. mkiii supras and newer got the 8", some with an LSD :flipoff2:

you can even swap the lsd carrier into an 8" truck housing, just have to grind some off the end of your axle shafts

Thanks for the links, but none of these mention the 3.54:1 diff, which I know is available because it is listed here:

http://www.precisiongear.com/toy8.htm

In the toyota 8" 4cyl section.

And here - which states that it is a precision gear:

http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/store/products.php?catid=37

And here - but not specifically listed as a precision gear.

http://www.drivetrain.com/ToyotaRingPinion.html

So does anyone know if this ratio is genuine or only made by precision, and which pumpkin I need if I just buy the ring and pinion???

Anyone else have any info. I take it that is these gears are manufactured by Precision they should be good quality.

There are aftermarket 3.54 toy 4cyl gears available in Australia, but they are not very good and get really noisy and worn after 10-15K miles. They are all stamped "AM.ENG.".
