i have a 4 speed 2wd tranny, if i take the tail shaft off of a 22re 4x4 tranny will it bolt on to the two wheel drive one?if you know anything please let me know

Not from all the ones I worked on, the 2wd tail is longer than the 4wd so the outputs will interfere. You can see the diffs in my pics, 2wd-left, 4wd right/center see the tail housings. Although the bolt up is the same there is a problem with the output shaft diameters also, and lenghts.

well this is a 4spd out of a motor home, or a 1 ton dually? i guess i will try it, got a tranny 5 spd?

4x4 for is shorter for sure wont work like they said ,
But 4x4 tranny has a reduction box and trasnfer case as well bolted to it ,outpt shafts are different ,one the 4x4 has a bolt on flange for the driveshaft at the transfercase, and the 2 wheel is slip yoke,
splitting the tranny wont work tail shaft is too short for your truck,you might find a celica or supra tranny that would work,most 2 wheel drives lengths are pretty close if memory serves me right .
Marlin has some rebuilds i think too...;)
