DENVER - Denver police are asking the public to help identify a man suspected of stealing bicycles from a fenced enclosure in the Highlands neighborhood earlier this week.

The thefts happened in the early morning hours of Monday and Tuesday in the area of 15th and Boulder streets and West 32nd Avenue and Navajo Street.

Police released surveillance camera images showing the man cutting through a chain-link fence to steal bicycles that were stored inside the fenced area. The police department did not say how many bikes were stolen.

Police said the suspect has returned to the area of the thefts on several occasions, wearing the same clothing -- a black T-shirt with a drawing of a snarling dog on it and gray pants. He was carrying a green backpack. He was seen leaving the area on foot or riding one of the stolen bicycles.

Police ask anyone who can identify this suspect or who has other information about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. You can also text 274637 (CRIMES), enter the title DMCS and your message.
