tracker/sidekick VSS plug question???

ok there is a plug that attaches to the rear diff right beside the wishbone mount, what is this plug for?

If memory serves, you can run with it NOT connected, you'll get worse MPG though.

humm damn worse mpg? i already get crappy mpg.....is there anyway to fool this?

none can tell me if this can be bypassed or sjut leave it unhooked?
