I've heard and read some things that states the trail is closed. Any truth to this? I can't find a definitive answer.

Can they legally close the trail when there is private land that is only accessed through the trail?

Got some friends going in May 2nd and are trying to talk me into going. I want to know for sure if it's ok regardless of how much snow there is. It would be nice to know the current conditions, nobody seems to be posting much.

Thanks for any replys.

It's been 2 weeks since I've been in from Airport Flat, It's spring time conditions deep slush and run off filling my tracks. Guessin your coming in Tahoe, FB pics. show snow bridges with deep holes maybe 5/6' deep by the pics. By May with the warm weather and faster melt should be only 2/3' of slush. Go for it I think you could make it to Observation for a day run.:beer: I have not seen any post from the county saying the trail in closed.........yet. https;//www.edcgov.us/.../rubicon-trail-current-condition... May 3 might be the first day of a lot of restrictions being lifted. So even worst case that it's closed now, you may end up spending the night and being able to hit on the 3rd. Sorry, can't directly answer you on whether or not it's open. Try calling El Dorado Sheriff's office or the Forest Service.
