transmission identification

i just bought a 1982 toyota pickup. the only thing is it doesn't have the original transmission and i am not sure how to tell which tranny it is. if anybody can help it would be appreciated.

no i dont need to be hand fed i just have never seen a side shift toyota transmission before. all the ones i have seen were top shift.

Sounds like an L43. Is it a 4 speed?

Are you sure it's not stock? My 79 came with a 4 cyl. and a side shift 4 spd. Don't have my manual here right now to give you the info., but I'll find it and get back to you.:p :p

an 82 would not have a L43 stock. It must have been swaped in .......who the hell would do something like that? wat a POS tranny.
