Ok I guess there is a multitude of symptoms I am trying to figure out.
Its an 87 4runner 5-speed (w56 i think). My transmission was rebuilt about a year and a half ago. I have always had a small leak out of the tail end of the transfer case so that has continued. Recently (3months ago) my shifts started grinding a little when they go into gear. I was told this could probably be because the syncros are new. And today, when I stopped at a light there is a clicking sound coming from the front of the transmission. It only happens when the clutch is engaged or in neutral.

Any thoughts? comments? suggestions? advise?

Have you checked the fluid in it? Was the throwout bearing replaced, what about the clutch? Is the clutch disengaging good, not grabbing with the peddle pushed in?

A freshly rebuilt tranny may be a little stiff for a while after a rebuild, but the sycros shouldnt be grinding. The whole purspose of them is to keep the gears from grinding. It could be that the sycros are messed up or the clutch isnt disengaging good.
