I'm looking for opinions on hauling a truck camper. I found one that currently rides in a 3500 Dodge dually. It is a good deal but I have a CTD 2500 with camper package (swb). Will the overhang cause problems towing a trailer with a Samurai? The camper is a pop up and the dry weight is 1185#. Just want to know of potential problems if I buy this camper. JCC

It will depend on how much overhang you have and if you need a hitch extension.
If you need to use and extension the tow weight and tongue weight go down
as the extension gets longer. Here's the hitch I have. The chart at the bottom
shows how the tow/tongue weight goes down as the extension gets longer.

Or,....if your jack gets in the way, you could relocate it or get you a swing-away jack. That's what I had when I towed with a truck camper and I had a good bit of overhang.

I've got a one ton and a 11.5' camper. Instead of extending the hitch, I extended the tongue on the trailer. Works well.

I installed this same setup along with their bolt on frame mounted cab over camper mount kit. It is BAD ASS.... I will be doing a product review on the entire setup in the next week or two. Everything is BOLT ON... NO drilling!

Yup. The hitch works super. Those camper mounts are the next thing I'll get for the rear. The rear turnbuckles for the Happy Jack
mounts from Lance Campers hit the rear fenders on my dualie. Torklift makes a QUALITY product.
