You won't be disappointed with either one. I would make sure to focus on service from whom you buy either product from.

<subliminal message on> don't forget about software <subliminal message off>
I've got a JD2, I dont have any complaints with it.
Not many are gonna have experience with both machines.
I think it comes down to price on this
I just bought a jd2#3 and converting to electric/hydro

got Fabcams bend tech pro software!

find a good dealer, I went with mark at mtech, I bought a new bender and 1.75" x 5.5x240* die shipped to my door cheaper then a guy selling a used 105 non hd unit in 4 sale section:D

tell them you are from pirate, hell tell mark I sent ya!

also remember pro-tools and jd2 dies do not interchange.........good info to know so you don't go picking up a used die and find out it won't fit:eek:

now to get that 60amp plasama so I can start cutting 7/8" like sheet metal!

Hahahaha, that's funny. I have a new hypertherm 80 amp machine, and it cuts 7/8" easily, but not like sheet metal... Hand cuts are not pretty in metal that thick, no matter what machine you use.

As for benders, I run a pro tools 105HD and I love it. It does a very good job, and comapred to jd2 ones I have seen, it looks to be a bit beefier. I got it from extremecrawlers.com in a package deal w/ die and BT 3D for an excelent price. I converted it to hydro after about 6 months with a home made conversion, and I couldn't be happier. Only bitch I have about the pro tools is the follower die is showing significant wear and I have always lubed it and always bend only clean tube. I am told JD2 has a follower w/ a replaceable derlon insert, would be pimpin' if it really exists, I have never really researched it.

Well I guess there is no truth in advertising:(

looking at an MITECH 60 amp, add says cuts 7/8" like it cuts sheet metal, gouges 1"......Hell it's only $650 shipped new:flipoff2:

no on derlon followers, many threads explain why it would be a bad choice;)
I have the jd model 3 and love it, the dies aren't real expensive and it is very easy to use.
I have a Brute with the electric over hydr. power unit. It is awesome. The only problem is that is comes with a hand operated remote. I am going to get a foot control and wire the cord into that. The air over has a foot control, but air is more expensive to run and takes longer IMHO. Foot controls allow you to use both hands which makes things run even quicker. I have a 1.75" x 6.0 x 240 die and a 1.5" x 5.0 x 240 die. The built in degree wheel is awesome, and once you get used to using it you can really haul. I have the Bend-Tech Pro software and love it. I can design and build stuff so fast now, it is really nice.
