tired of fixing cracks, bends and brakes in my tatered cj-5 frame. its been boxed, but it still cracks and bends. anyway, looking for some info on what size, wall thickness, round or square type of tube to use. was kinda thinking 2x4-3/16wall. would you recomend 2x3 or 2x4? is 3/16 to heavy? just dont want to build it twice. thanks.

I am Starting Another Project And I think I am Going 2x3 Box 120 Wall You Can Go 2x4 but I like the Apearance of 2x3 it look's Clean with Tubing Parts Welded To It!!

Although 2x4 Provides Easier Ways To Make Flat Skid!!!! tucking The Tranny Higher!!

You'r Choice though!!!

Hey fullsize, (doesn't really apply to a Willy's rig)

I'm strongly considering using an AFW frame
for my buildup. They'll sell just the basic
2 frame rails pre-bent for you rig. They use
2x4x .188 wall (3/16") the basic 2 frame rails cost about 550 for the pair. (not bad
considering the rectangle tube itself would
probably cost ya 4-6 bucks a foot itself.
the rails come a little long so ya have to
trim them to fit you application. shipping
from Montana is around 150 truck freight.

Jerrod is the lead guy there I think, they've
always been very pleasant to talk to over the
phone to me. 406-538-4998.

I haven't ordered for my cj7 frame yet, but
they'll also do custom stuff too, In my case
I want to rear of the frame rails to exit out
the back without the 2 last bends bringing down the rear of the frame rails. (increase
departure angle a little bit)

Give em a call and post what ya think....
