Rubisim pl

"RUBISIM - (Simplex) 444.9875, No pl, No offset"

I noticed that there is no PL on this while this is usual for simplex however my
notes show that a PL of 107.2 is recommended as some users decode PL on their handhelds.

Hope this helps and yes my PL's where crossed on the RUBI+ and RUBI freq's.
The RTF web site shows the wrong PL's for RUBI and RUBI+. I will let John Arenz N6YBH now of this.

I must correct this. It was the literature I recieved from the Ocotber Ham class where the PL's were crossed on the RUBI and RUBI+ hopefully the handouts have been corrected.. The RTF web site does CORRECTLY advertise the PL's and Freq's.

73 for now.

I am going to bed. to late to think about this.:smokin:

Thanks for keeping me honest, Pat :)

Yup, the literature AND the programming from that Ham Class were incorrect. I've tried to correct it whenever I run across folks that have them reversed. Another 5 or 10 years and I'll reel it back in!

As you noted, the info on the RTF website and on this post, is correct.

This is a great and informational thread!!
Question, is the spyder repeater the same as the JJ repeater some talk about?
They are on different frequencies but are housed in the same location. The JJ Repeater is on the business band where the "Spider Repeater" is on the ham band. The Spider repeater also has a link to the KA6GWY (146.805) repeater network if you need to reach out beyond the Rubicon trail.

As noted, the Jeepers Jamboree repeater is in the business band. So that means you need to have the permission of the license holder to use it, though you don't have to have a ham license. It works in the Rubicon, but not outside the Rubicon. Works very well to call from say, Loon Lake to Rubicon Springs.

461.6625 Receive, 446.6625 Transmit, PL 136.5

The ham repeater (at Spider Lake) is typically known as the Rubicon Repeater. Its a ham repeater, so you must have a ham license to use it. If you don't have one, and are a Rubicon user, you should get one, it isn't very hard and it'll open up a whole world of uses. For instance, there are good repeater systems in Saint George (Sand Hollow Trail System and other trails), Marysvale (Apache trail System), Moab, Las Cruces/Elephant Butte, Johnson Valley, etc.

The Rubicon repeater recognizes two different PL tones. One of them operates the repeater inside the Rubicon, and it has handheld coverage from Wentworth Springs and Loon to Miller Lake. The other PL tone has the same coverage inside the Rubicon, but also turns on a link transmitter to link the Rubicon repeater to the 146.805 repeater on the west slope of El Dorado County. That's real useful in an emergency or even if you just need someone to bring you an axle or a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

444.9875 Receive, 449.9875 Receive, PL 156.7 (Rubicon coverage)

444.9875 Receive, 449.9875 Receive, PL 107.2 (Rubicon coverage plus the .805 link)

There is also a Tahoe machine that links into the system:

145.350 Receive, 146.205 Transmit, PL 123.0

And of course the main system on the west slope of El Dorado County:

146.805 Receive, 146.205 Transmit, PL 123.0

Hope this helps,

John

EDIT: Just looked back through this thread and realized most of this info is already posted. THe big change is that the Tahoe repeater's transmitter frequency has been changed. All of the info in this post is currently correct.

So my recent research and attempt to understand programming these things a little, the JJ repeater has a offset of +15. Is that a correct understanding? I would use the 446.6625 and tell my radio the tone is 136.5 and the offset is +15. Or is it the other way around, I use 461.6625 and an offset of -15? I am getting my two radios programmed for this coming weekend. I should really do the class and do this more then once per year. But, I figured the more knowledge shared here the better, right?
Thank you for the knowledge!!!

Correct, I understand the Jamboree is canceled. I am just trying to fully understand the lingo correctly. I am also going to be with a group of long time JJ volunteers and organizers this weekend, and they will be utilizing the JJ repeater, possibly.
