Im gettin an axle w/ an arb in it. Should I be considering how long the arb has been used in the axle? How long is the "wear factor" for a locker setup?
All assuming it's been wheeled in a resonable fashion.
I've had my rear ARB (in D44) for ~10 years, with no mechanical issues other than possibly worn o-rings in the seal housing (piece that the air tube goes into).
I'm currently getting a little oil backing up into the air solenoid attached to the compressor. This is generally caused by leaking seals in the seal housing; however, I've had no problems with it engaging (yet). But the "hand writing is on the wall".
The seals are easy to replace, but doing so does require you pull the carrier from the axle housing.
I'd suggest replacing these seals before you install the axle--easier to do setting on a rack, versus under the truck.
