Hello,

New Fella here, I tried to reword my search about 5 times and came up empty, I was told that you could use rear leaf spring on front to get a "homemade" lift of about 4-6in, depending on the spring pack size. I was told to move the front bracket to the "first" set of holes and use like 9" shackles to compensate. Has anyone hears of this? One problem I see is the bracket and rad. support bracket are "curved" how do you compensate for this? Thanks,

That is correct sir.

You can if you wish, move to the forward bracket.

You need to "flatten" the new hanger out, be it a hammer or press, just get it done.

I think thats what my ******* PO (no offence.:p) did, as my front spring set is a 2.5" width (a rear width, 3" is front). As i said, only speculation, but my spring pack flexes well, and seems to be about 5" lift. So you need wider bushings aswell. I have found mine split, but I think that was due to other factors.

Problems with your rad? hmm...can't see that...? But yeah, I have an 8" shackel on my rig.

Search it on CK5 (the place to be if you want FS chev info ;) ...no offence to the pirate crew, but thise place seems to be the imports and jeep home) search "52" on CK5 and you should come up with a wealth of info on the subject, or just email me @ [email protected] and I'll go a little more in detail.

For now, my MGD has taken a slight toll on my typing skills, and I'll leave you with that.

THEY ALL USE A 2.5'' SPRING WIDTH FRONT AND REAR & YEA YOU CAN MOVE THE FRONT SPRING HANGER TO THE FORWARD MOUNTING HOLES AND USE A 52'' REAR SPRING OR YOU CAN USE A 56'' REAR SPRING BUT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A LONG SHACKLE IF USING THE 56'S, A STOCK REAR SPRING WILL GIVE APPX. 4'' OF LIFT

Factory GM front springs are 3" wide and the perch and taper out. After market springs are typically 2.5" from end to end.

As for using rears in the front, quite a few people have done it. Only problem is that factory 52" rears are often cracked or soon will be subjected to the loads of running in front.

Yes, 1/2 ton rear springs on the front will work good.
And I agree with BADDOG. They are all cracked down the middle.
or will be.
When doing my 94 Blazer (10bolt)1/2 ton to (14FF) 3/4 ton conversion I took parts from 4 sets of rear springs out of trucks in the boneyard just to "make" 1 good pack. That made me give up on the idea of ever using old springs.

You could just buy some cheap-o aftermarket rears or even stockers from jc whitney brand new, That would probably take care of any issues with using old used rears.
