OK I just did the clutch in my '90 xcab 4x4. So I got it clutch in, but I cannot get the tranny lined back up. YES I did use a clutch alignment tool. I get the tranny about .5 to .75 inches away from the motor and it will NOT go any further.

What gives? Am I just not trying hard enough, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!!!

If you used a clutch tool itshould go in. The amount you say is about the lenght of the part on the imput shaft going into the pilot bearing. It sounds like that is the hang up. Are you holding the back of the tranny as you are shoving it in? Sometimes a bit of wiggling on the tranny as you are shoving it in helps. I have bolts that are about 4-5 inches long with the heads cut off that I screw into the block to be used like locating pins. Once the rest of the bolts are in and snugged up I remove the pins and put the proper bolts in and torque them down. I cut a slot in the top of the pins so I can use a screwdriver to take them out.

Cool guys thanks for the info! This is my first time in a long time doing a clutch. Didn't ever intend to get this intimate with my truck! I've only had it a few months!
